I think that’s how most letters from the editor should start. Thank you to all the writers, editors, photographers, designers, and social media mavens who helped build this project.
This year the staff chose to produce a magazine based on a singular concept that every college student wrestles with as they make their way through the college experience. The search for who we are.
There is divison in this country over a broad spectrum of ideas, philosophies, religions and ideologies. Some would have us believe that it is somehow worse than it is has ever been, but that is not true. CSUN students want many of the same things: honest work, living wages, care for the sick, a clean place to live and a peaceable republic.
In examining some of the students that make up the campus, we found people looking for a second chance, animal lovers, theatre nerds and students just trying to make their way through the world. A small part of these stories exists in all of us, a small part of you exists in me and vice versa.
We are offering no answers here today, just an introduction to your friends and classmates and an opportunity to reach out to another human being through the hard work and rigorous journalism presented here today.
